I love anything colourful - this is what makes me happy and I try to share this in my work, whether it be drawing, painting or other mediums. The above quote from Maya Angelou is my working motto and I have created a reputation around this passion.
As a painter, I have been very much inspired by the French Impressionists and find fascination in the glorious colours that I see during the changing seasons, especially trees (in my local area particularly).
I can't exactly remember what prompted me but I then became interested in coloured pencils and the possibilities afforded by this humble art tool.
"Blue Tabby" (below) was the first major piece that I made using this medium. An A2 study of Spot, one of our cats, this drawing took me four weeks to complete and still holds a place in my heart (and a favourable position on our dining room wall)..
Since then, I have gone on to create a portfolio of commissioned portraits - pets, people, wedding flowers (anything considered) - and have received a fabulous catalogue of customer accolades that I will treasure forever.
